Today we woke up and went for breakfast in the hotel. Then we packed up the car and left for Anda. We stopped in CSI to get toothbrushes and dental hygiene supplies for the kids at ToriTori school in Anda. Ts cousins and herself are all helping the school in some way. T collected and donated so many books for them and they marked off a part of the library called “Tierney’s Library.” Her cousin Lily collected the dental hygiene supplies, but they wanted even more for the faculty and staff. And her brother is going to raise money for a playground.
When we got home, we had to wait for the other truck with Ts grandparents in it, so we started playing knockout. Then, even when they arrived, we kept playing and we started playing 3v3, 5v4, 4v3, and more. It is a short goal, I can drop it in without jumping, and it was really fun and tiring. Then we all went in for dinner, and all the kids did abs after dinner in the ab station (aka upstairs). Off to bed, and tomorrow we are taking the dental supplies to the school before going to the beach.
Today we woke up, ate a quick breakfast, and headed to the school. I was overwhelmed with their gratitude. The kids loved us all so much, and they just kept waving and smiling and wanting to high five us and touch us. We saw “Tierney’s Library,” Lily and Luke made little speeches about their contributions, and Madison sang them a song. We had to open all the toothbrush packets at the beginning and combine two with a tube of toothpaste which was madness haha.
It was a humbling experience, because all their classrooms have open holes for the windows and some are just outside. They are doing construction, and Ts family is helping a lot! We went home for lunch before heading to the beach. The beach was fun, it wasn’t crowded and looked like a storm was about to hit us. To our good fortune it didn’t hit us and we were able to play sand volleyball and neucome all afternoon. The water was so shallow we could’ve walked to a small island but it was most likely 10 miles away. We walked out pretty far and it only came over my knees. We were able to find a lot of cool shells, sand dollars, and even two starfish though, and we saw a big hermit crab on the move. We went home and had a quick turn around before going to dinner across the island that overlooked the hundred islands. It was really beautiful, and we had a classic final Filipino meal.
Today was a wild travel day. This is because we were packed up and ready to go by 9, but didn’t leave until 6:30 at night. We made it to Clark at 11:30 pm, and left the hotel at 4 am.
