After arriving, we went to the beach until 2 when we could check in. That night we went to potato head which is a beach front bar pool restaurant type place on the beach. Super hip and trendy, but kind of flashy. A very interesting design and art on the outside though, I recommend looking it up. The architect collected shutters and flip flops to design the walls. That night we watched the World Cup in a small bar.
The next day we went to Ubud. We stopped at a place with art and clothes and trinkets, and then a place where they make silver jewelry. This is where I got some new stud earrings. Then we went to a place that makes coffee from this luwak’s poop haha tmi but they said it was good. I don’t much like coffee but I tried one that was vanilla flavored. They also had a lot of yummy hot teas. Then we went to Ubud market, everyone bought a little something, and we also had lunch at “grandpa’s.” It was delicious, Guy and I both got bahn mi in a pita type pocket. We made our way to the Tanah Lot temple. It seemed to be a place to offer things to the gods, so we couldn’t go up to the top. Everywhere you looked men and women were in white and carrying offerings up the stairs. On the other hand we got there just in time for the sunset and it was right on the coast. We headed back to the hostel to go to dinner. We hired a driver for the day so he waited for us at every stop. For dinner we went to a hotel that was showing the World Cup. We all had an Indonesian dish, I can’t recall the name, but or waiter was fun and the atmosphere was great.
We left the hostel the next morning for Yogyakarta. The hostel in Bali was very nice and also interesting. Our beds were pockets in the wall. It was really clean and peaceful and had nice showers. My favorite one so far.
Unusual coffee…hope you took pics of hostel…Bali sounds wonderful ! Safe travel…xoxo GM
