Calle del General Arrando 9

This week we all started our internships and began our regular classes. We have class in the afternoon on Mondays and Tuesdays. Everyone works Monday through Friday, but the times vary. My job is at the European Institute for Entrepreneurship (which I now can spell without using autocorrect). I can use the metro system with out any issues and it makes it so easy to get around. My job is just 5 minute walk from the direct metro line I take. I work 9-2:30 Mon. and Tues., 9-6 (wow) Wed. and Thurs. , and 9-4:30 on Fridays. My internship is the most rigorous one apparently. This semester abroad EIE is hosting, what is in my opinion, a rather last minute summit. As members of the GCEC (Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers), they are hosting a summit in Madrid at the end of June. For my time with EIE I will be working on that project in different ways, and culminating my time by attending the summit. It will be held in Madrid, Segovia, and El Escorial. This week has been tedious work though just trying to locate and contact potential schools and speakers. Most of the replies have been that it is too last minute, but can you believe they had originally planned to do this in March?? I think it will be a lot of fun and a great experience to have. Also we get free lunch every single day that we want it!

The first two days of class this week were just intro classes and we had two small quizzes over the presentations everyone just finished and over the different areas of Spain. Other than that we just took notes, but we have more presentations coming up soon, and I should probably start looking at that.

The real fun was last night at our Tapas Crawl with our program leaders/professors/friends! We went to three different tapas bars and tried so much food!! I realized a lot of the Spanish food is what I would consider similar to breakfast in America. Tortilla is an omelette but its different. This may have been my favorite tapa, but I don’t know I liked them all. We also had two things I am not sure how I feel about them haha, but one is Salmorejo (not 100% sure), the other was some sort of blood sausage, perhaps called morcilla, but I’m not positive. We also went to a place that had wonderful cheeses and also fried chicken nuggets with what appeared to be a corn flake crust. And we also had a different version of nachos involving chips and fried eggs. Lastly we had these peppers that were not spicy at all, but apparently the legend has it that every so often one of them is super spicy. “Pimientos de padron, unos pican y otros no(n),” and you say it with some sort of rhythm or rhyme. It was super fun, and it was also a girls birthday today, so last night after the tapas we went to a little bar for her to celebrate, but we didn’t stay out too late because we are going to celebrate today! Here are some pictures 🙂 :

Also, our dinner the other night at home was very good and I wanted to document it here! We had eggplant ravioli and spring rolls and yummy strawberries. And tonight I tried a famous dish they have called “Ensalda Rusa.”

  1. It looks like you are having fun as well as a pretty strenuous “educational” experience. What a lucky girl you are, but of course luck only comes with hard work❗️
We are cleaning up the cabin yard & stuff so we can then “chill out” for the rest of the time – talk about lucky !
    Luv u
