I had a fun three days in Madrid this week. On Monday, I went to work, went to class to present, and then went to get tapas with half of my class. I was upset because our cooking class got unexpectedly cancelled because of a kitchen fire (all are safe), so we had to improvise. The good news was my teacher decided to take each class to tapas on their respective days. It was called, “El Rincón del Cabo.” We had so many yummy tapas! We had empanadas, good croquetas (found a place with dank ones), chicken kebabs, tortilla, and some other things I don’t know the name of, haha.
The next day, it was the same beginning, work and school, but then we went to the Ópera ballet of Carmen! It was AMAZING!!!! I still think about it. It was an intense show, with a very modern style of ballet, and great dancers, and a simple and intricate set. Here is a little bit about the ballet that I found online for you guys:
“The National Dance Company reinvents the debut opera by Georges Bizet, Carmen, under the renewed version by Johan Inger from Sweden in a modern performance with airs of flamenco that focuses on violence.
Inger tells the tale through the eyes of a boy who witnesses the injustices and violent acts that surrounds him. On this focus, Inger creates a new point of view whilst contemplating the transformation of the character.
Set in Seville in 1820, the story presents Carmen, a free and sensual gypsy who works in the cigar factory, who steals the heart of the inexperienced corporal, Don José. The love he feels for the beautiful woman makes the soldier reject his previous partner, rise up against his superior in the army and desert his army life.
However, these sacrifices are in vain when Carmen decides to give her affection to the bullfighter, Escamillo. This sends Don José into a spiral of pain, hatred and jealousy.”
The end is very powerful and the dancing throughout is also. I would see it again if I could. Also, after the show, we saw this man that happened to be dating the lead dancer, Carmen. He also happened to star in a fairly new Netflix show called Cable Girls. We took a picture with him, and two of the girls that watched the show before we got here, were fan-girling like crazy! Then McKenna, Halle and I finally made it to the Cuban restaurant that my friend Madi told me to go to, that Guy and I loveeed, and it was just as good this time around.
Wednesday was the day before the summit and I was at work until 9:30 pm!!! It was a mad house!
Here are some pictures from the week in Madrid.

Wow! Now you’re even meeting stars??? Is there nothing you aren’t able to do in Espana!?
