El fin de semana (6)

It was our last weekend in Spain 😦

My program went to Segovia this past weekend (haha yes I had just been there). We stayed at a nice hotel, and this time I stayed in a three bedroom room that was actually made for three people!

Saturday we left Madrid around 9 am and I slept the whole hour there because we all went to sleep really late the night before. There is a 7 story club in Madrid that everyone says you have to go to. It’s called Kapital, and it was crazy. My whole program, except for a few, went and had a great time. I even ran into some of my friends from Lubbock who were there, which was neat. When we got to Segovia, we walked around the city and did an almost identical tour of the city that I had done Thursday, but luckily, this time we were able to go inside the Alcázar castle. The castle is apparently the castle that inspired the one in Snow White! Then we walked around city on our own. We went to this great pastry place and then all went back and napped until dinner. Halle and Sabrina even overslept and almost missed dinner lol, did I mention we were all exhausted from the night before?

Dinner was GREAT! Not as great as the famous restaurant I ate at with the GCEC group, but it was a close second. We had so many appetizers, and then our choice of pork medallions or fish, and then a delicious dessert!! I was stuffed. It was my friend Sophia’s birthday, so we all wanted to celebrate with her. To our luck, there was a concert that night. A group of us went and discovered it was a Spanish rock concert. It was funny because they also sang classic American songs, but they didn’t know all the words. Meaning, half the time we’d be singing and then hear them and realize we were saying different things and it was funny.

Sunday, the next morning we woke up and had breakfast in the hotel. Then we drove back to Madrid, and I worked on my final presentation all afternoon, what a nerd! That night Halle and I still had no idea where our host mom was. Side note: she left Friday morning at 4 am, according to Halle, and we hadn’t seen her since. We made do with what we had in the kitchen for dinner, and then fell asleep.

I am so sad this is my last weekend in Madrid. However, since I know there’s no more weekends left, I’m getting ready to be home. I miss you all, and I am excited for all of my upcoming summer plans. THAT being said as well, PRIDE week has started in Madrid and so much is going on all the time. Also, we have some fun things planned for this last week in Madrid, so stay tuned 🙂
