Singapore

Singapore is just like everyone told me it would be: flawlessly clean. At the same time, after our first step off the plane, it felt like we were in a simulation haha. Everything is perfectly timed, flows, is clean, modern, and occasionally we can catch the simulation glitching 😉

We went to our hostel, but Guy said he was starting to not feel well. We all went to Chinatown to look for the food that’s cheap, but at the same time has been awarded one Michelin star. We also got dumplings, and to our luck Mer said they were some of the best she’d ever had, and these were the first T and I had ever tried. Mer is somewhat of a dumpling expert after her study abroad experience in China. When we got back to the hostel, Guy decided he needed to rest. We left him while we went to get drinks and then go to a night safari.

The night safari was really cool. The place itself felt like Jurassic park. We got into open sided shuttles and drove in the dark through the park. We saw lions, tigers, and bears, oh my, as well as flying squirrels, sugar gliders, lots of different pigs, hyenas, a giraffe, elephants, many dear species, otters, big bats, ducks, a snake, owls, and more. After you drive through, you can also walk the four trails. It was really quiet, peaceful, and fun! When we got back though, it was around midnight, and Guy was burning up!

I was worried because I usually can’t feel a difference in people with a fever and people without one (not the best quality to have). I decided to text his mom and see what she thought. She said she knew someone there and they told us a hospital to go to that was open 24 hours. It was around 1:30 am and only 8 minutes away. I talked Guy into going even though he said he’d be fine. His temperature was 38.6, which to us is 101.4. So not 103, but still worrisome since he’d had aleve only about an hour earlier. They ran some tests and got him 3 different medicines, and we are waiting to see what they say tomorrow.

The next day we woke up, lounged around, went back to chinatown, obviously, and got noodles. They were so delicious. We also did some shopping around CT, then went back to our hostel before going to the gardens by the bay. These ended up being yet another breathtaking experience. The system itself is very intricate on how it all works but these gardens create energy and emit carbon dioxide and honestly I’m not sure what else, haha. There’s a cloud forest, and flower dome, and a super tree grove. The pictures for this will be amazing, as well as the video of the light show at the trees. They are GIANT man made trees.

After the garden, we went to little India, and we got vegetarian Indian food. On accident, but after the gardens and this, I really want to try being vegetarian to help the earth. After each conservatory, they would end the walk through with information and videos and pictures about how forests are dying, species are dying, global warming, and ways to help. We are living in the 6th mass extinction and we are not helping. “We should not destroy what we cannot create.” The Indian food was so yummy, and a man in line helped me translate to check for peanuts.

Today we simply went back to CT for the third time, and then headed to the airport. Off to Bangkok we go!
